PREVENTING LAN CARD/NIC & MODEM FROM LIGHTNING/THUNDER

In most of the offices working with Broadband Modem (DSL), they get damaged due to sudden burst of Lightning and Thunder caused by weather changes. As a result of which High Voltage is created and they get passed via phone Line or by Electrical line causing damages to our Electrical & Electronic components. At severe cases, they may damage entire System's Motherboard as well.

Steps to Prevent Damages:

1. Watch Weather carefully - Needs awareness all the time.

2. If weather changes from clear sky to Cloudy state, it is better to "TURN OFF MODEM".

3. Remove "LINE - RJ 11 cable" from Modem.

4. Remove "LAN CABLE RJ 45" from Modem.

This kind of damages are quite easily possible in Hilly areas or regions in Higher Altitude where reception of Lightning & Thunder are higher. Following the above steps will be very effective in handling our computer peripherals and components and also cost saving procedure. In-tangential benefit of these preventive measures is that it "Saves Time" a lot.
